Do you MooJaa?

I love steamboat.

To me, steamboat used to be a once a year affair. During Chinese New Year eve, steamboat reunion dinner was what I anticipated the most. As I became older and of course wiser, I can have steamboat more often and that brings me to learn and appreciate good steamboat.

So last weekend, to satisfy my craving, J brought me to my first ever mookatah! Thai steamboat is something that I hear a lot of people rave about but never have a chance to taste it.  Most of the comments that I heard was that it is really yummy and sinful cos of the lard. There were also some negative reviews such as being really stinky (inevitable la..) afterwards or even that the eating environment is not really clean.

Having heard all that, going to MooJaa for my first mookatah experience is the best combination that I can ask for.

Look at the interior! It looks pretty alluring to me. Don't you think so? With the chandelier and the black walls..Classy. Most importantly, it is air-conditioned! If I have to sweat and eat steamboat outside, I think I rather go eat something else. Singapore is too humid la.

So now, let the food do the talking!!!

The meat are well-marinated and I fell in love with the chicken slices. You don't even need other sauces to enhance the taste. It is tasty on its own and really tender too. Even though we left it grilling for quite some time, the meat didn't turn stiff at all.

The fried fish skins. Goes well with the Thai sweet chili sauces. If they are hot from the stove, it will be even better. I prefer the fried food hot and crispy.

This was our overall spread. We chose the ala carte buffet which means..free flow meat and drinks! Thai ice tea was pretty decent and they are generous with their serving as well. One big cup. Calling all the water bucket friends, no fear of running out of drinks. :D

when I was there, majority of the crowd were guys. So free flow meat is definitely worth going. Super worthwhile for them la..imagine all the meat they can have! Can sit there for hoursss..But for girls who care, remember to bring some hair sprays to remove the odour ok. Not as smelly as I thought it would be but there is still essence of the steamboat stuck to your hair and clothes. Good food comes with a price eh?

So pop by and enjoy the food and..the music! haha Maybe because it was a saturday night so the music played made us want to dance while eating! :D

Back with something awesome.

Hello yellow! I am back with another food post. (:

Are you someone who loves to indulge in japanese food like me? One food that I cannot live without  probably should be salmon. No matter how you process it, it can't seem to go very wrong. The thought of it makes me want to go to that sashimi buffet tmr! grrr...
So last weekend, J took me to Keisuke Ramen. We went to the outlet at 100AM (Amara Hotel). The exterior gives a "my food is very authentic" vibe and the furniture just adds on to my point. When you step in, you know the food is going to be great even before the food touches your eager taste buds.

This was what we order. If I am not wrong, this is the Black Spicy Tori King (usually i just whack first before finding out the name). There is one problem and it does not lie with the food but with us. We were not aware that the fantastic shop was going to close in 20 minutes. Which means.. we only have that limited amount of time to savour every drop of that goodness. 0.0 I hate to eat good food in such a time constraint! So in the end, we only ordered one bowl to share so as to maximize that short happy moment.

The soup flavouring was really rich. If you are someone who likes your food strong and impactful, then this is the ramen for you. lol. There was also free flow hard boiled eggs and seasoned bean sprouts. From a person who has no strong liking to bean sprouts, theirs is worth eating. It is tasty and after the first mouthful, you will reach out for the second time. I promise.

I would go back again at the right timing. For sure.

Sorry for the lack of pictures. I will be more diligent the next time. <3

The sun and the waffle.

Being the first entry of my blog, what better way to start then posting pictures of happy food? Especially dessert. Honestly, I do not have that much of a sweet tooth but there are times when you just need the comfort of these sweet little things.

I chanced upon a review of Wimbly Lu from a blogger and I told myself I need to go and see for myself. I mean, look at the facade. It seems like things are going to be different behind that door. I simply love cafes/restaurants with that extra creativity that makes me forget that I am actually downing that extra calories down my throat.

Library corner is always a plus for cafe. At least that's how I like it. You can tell a lot about a person from the kind of books they choose to display. In this case, children books! An owner who loves the innocence of the younger world? Or it is simply just a tool to distract the kids so the Moms can have a great tea cum gossip session? You never know. Haha

The rays that shone through on a sunny afternoon. I really adore the ambiance (:

Now now, here comes the sin. I ordered the waffle and salted caramel ice cream with toffee syrup. To validate the words of mouth, the waffle was indeed crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside! Matches great with the ice cream and it is definitely the perfect serving for a lady. Just right to satisfy the craving.

Joshua ordered the brownie with vanilla ice cream and he did not have much comments about it. That explains the absence of the picture (my bad..). Point is, we are not a brownie kind of couple so even if it is great, we would not know how to appreciate it.

As for beverages, my Mocha was more towards the chocolate side and thats how I like it to be. If you want something chilly, you can try the cider which J loves. Great for a sunny afternoon too (:

The next time I will choose to come here at night. To see a different side of the cafe without the shine from sun but from the dark of the night. Great place for gathering and perhaps a date too? More convenient if you are traveling in four wheels but good luck at parking if you choose to go during peak period.

Time for another treat soon? <3
